Orange pulp bread

We have recently bough a juicer which I believe is a great invention. Never the less, quite a lot pulp is left after making juice. I was looking for creative ways to use it and well one of it was just to bake some bread.

The recipe as always is very simple:

  • 1 cup of orange pulp

  • 1 pack of active yeast
  • 1 tbsp of brown sugar
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil
  • 3 1/2 cups of bread flour

I have used dough function to prepare dough and left it for 1 hour in 100F. Then baked it in the oven in 350F for 50min.

  1. Good for you coming up with this. I used to save all the pulp from my juicer in freezer bags and make muffins, or carrot cake… until I realized I could never bake enough to use it up. Since then I’ve quit juicing, going instead for fibre. I like this bread idea.

  2. We make orange bread in our bakery, using the whole orange. I think the zest is the best part! I do think one could leave the juice out, but I would definitely encourage you to put the zest in there too–lots of it. Smells heavenly.
